Two New Grants Help CFH Deliver Vaccines

CFH is proud to welcome back two valued partners in the fight against infections diseases. Funds from The New York Community Trust and Direct Relief’s Innovation Awards in Community Health, funded by The Pfizer Foundation, will go a long way in helping underserved communities.

Recently, Care For the Homeless (CFH) welcomed back two valued partners in the fight against infectious diseases. The New York Community Trust and Direct Reliefโ€™s Innovation Awards in Community Health, funded by The Pfizer Foundation.  Both awarded generous grants to CFH.

Direct Relief and The Pfizer Foundation

Specifically, Direct Relief and The Pfizer Foundation honored CFH with the Innovation Award in Community Health: Addressing Infectious Disease in Underserved Communities. CFH was among nineteen community health organizations across the United States to receive an award.

This recognition represents our commitment to improving access to education and treatment for vaccine-preventable diseases in the communities we serve.

The $246,606 award will support a two-year program, the Vaccine Equity and Access Project (VEAP).

The grant funds from the Innovation Award in Community Health will help us deliver more vaccines than ever before.

The Vaccine Equity and Access Project

Via this project, we will provide a variety of activities and educational opportunities. This includes increased access to a full range of vaccines. Mainly COVID, flu, pneumonia, hepatitis A and B, HPV, and others for transmissible diseases. Our focus will not only be on administering vaccines but addressing the inequities in access and treatment of infectious diseases in communities of color and the homeless population.

โ€œWe are honored to be selected for this prestigious award that is giving us the opportunity to further expand our vaccine outreach to our patients and residents,โ€ says CFH President and CEO, George Nashak. โ€œWe are grateful for the leadership of the Pfizer Foundation for providing the financial support for all 19 projects, each of which will have a measurable and positive impact on the lives of all we serve.โ€

The New York Community Trust

The New York Community Trust generously awarded CFH with a grant of $150,000. These funds will go towards purchasing vaccines, including COVID, influenza, HPV, childhood immunizations, and more. A special focus of this award will be ensuring migrant individuals and families receive vaccines, including children who need their vaccines to enroll in the NYC school system.

The Future

CFH is both humbled and honored to receive these generous grants. They represent both the successes of our past and the bright future ahead. We cannot wait to show you all the good these projects will achieve.
