The book discusses solutions that local communities and national lawmakers can apply now to end the U.S. homelessness crisis. Additionally, it shifts our understanding of the issue away from issues of individual circumstance. Poverty, income inequality, housing affordability, and social exclusion are and have always been symptoms of modern homelessness.

Dr. Khadduri’s presentation is organized around her book’s four major questions.
- Who becomes homeless?
- Why do people become homeless?
- How do we end homelessness?
- How do we prevent homelessness?
After her presentation, Dr. Khadduri will take questions from three esteemed panelists. Each will address questions and issues raised by the book. In addition, webinar attendees may ask questions afterward.
Panelists:
- David Brand – Deputy Editor at City Limits
- M.A. Dennis – Poet and Consumer Advocate at Care For the Homeless
- Molly Wasow Park – First Deputy Commissioner at the NYC Department of Homeless Services

On the book, CFH President and CEO, George Nashak, says, โDr. Jill Khadduri and Dr. Marybeth Shinnโs book is the most important book written in the last two decades about homelessness in the United States. These highly informed and thoughtful researchers have provided a data-informed overview of the magnitude and characteristics of homelessness. All of us who work in this field owe the authors a deep debt of gratitude.โ
